Scenes from the park

Even though the wind was blowing, we made the most of the sunshine and headed to the park. While most kids played on the structure, I took small groups into the woods for some exploration.

The children decided that squirrels, birds, raccoons, bears and beavers lived in the woods.
We wondered why this big branch fell down. Keegan said it was clear evidence of beavers: "It crunched up the branch like this (gnaw gnaw gnaw) and CRASH it fell down!"
There were lots of opportunities for gross motor work. We've been working on balance during yoga, and those skills came in handy!
Some children noticed "shells" on the end of logs.
And this tree had a belly button!
 Meanwhile on the playground.....

Hopefully this spring will see many visits to the park to explore our environment!
